Komedia, o jakiej nikomu się nie śniło! „Dream Scenario” to wyprodukowany przez studio A24 film z Nicolasem Cage’em w brawurowej i całkowicie zaskakującej roli. Paul (Cage) to sympatyczny, choć trochę nudny profesor akademicki, który znienacka zaczyna pojawiać się w snach milionów obcych ludzi – a wszyscy zadają sobie pytanie: dlaczego akurat on?
Zdobywca Oscara Nicolas Cage wciela się w rolę niedocenianego i niemal niezauważalnego szarego człowieka, którego los zmienia się diametralnie, odkąd co noc śni się obcym ludziom na całym świecie. Z dnia na dzień, a w zasadzie z nocy na noc, Paul Matthews staje się celebrytą szczególnej kategorii. Nastoletnie córki przestają się go wstydzić, odzywa się do niego jego była, w oczach studentów zaczyna być cool, a na biurku przybywa lukratywnych kontraktów reklamowych. Wreszcie jest KIMŚ. Jednak szybko jego życie z ucieleśnienia marzeń staje się koszmarem, a z fascynującego fenomenu Paul staje się ofiarą cancel culture.
Zainteresowany kulturą internetu, viralowością i fenomenem influencerów reżyser Kristoffer Borgli („Chora na siebie”) eksploruje zarówno proces stawania się celebrytą, jak i szybką utratę sympatii mas. Zgłębiając te tematy, nie mógł lepiej dobrać odtwórcy głównej roli. Cage, którego twarz widnieje na tysiącach memów i zabawnych gadżetów, pokazuje tutaj nie tylko wybitny komediowy talent, ale także fenomenalny warsztat dramatyczny. Wyśmiewany za wybierane role, ale także nieustannie utrzymujący się na topie aktor dostał tu szansę na rozwinięcie skrzydeł. Krytycy uznali nakręcony w duchu Michela Gondry’ego („Zakochany bez pamięci”), Spike’a Jonze’a („Być jak John Malkovich”) oraz Charliego Kaufmana („Anomalisa”) „Dream Scenario” za nieodparcie śmieszny. Sam Nicolas Cage prawdopodobnie nigdy nie był ani tak zabawny, ani tak poruszający.

MOVIE BREAK is an intercultural film club where, during a break from studying, we watch films together and discuss them.
Films are a great alternative to traveling they let us reach places we currently cannot access, giving us the opportunity to discover new locations and cultures. Equally important, they provide entertainment. Thats why we want to join forces and create a space open to multiculturalism, but above all, a place for relaxing together with a good film and informal conversations.
The initiative is aimed at the academic community, with special focus on international guests, including researchers, PhD students, and their families. Through film, we want to break down language barriers and get to know one another, as well as the cultures we come from.
Join us for the launch of the Movie Break series, which will take place at the Faculty of Languages and History on October 28, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM in Auditorium 1.43. After the screening, there will be an opportunity for discussion.

Paul (Cage) is a likable, if somewhat boring, college professor who suddenly begins appearing in the dreams of millions of strangers—and everyone is asking themselves: why him?
Oscar winner Nicolas Cage plays the role of an underappreciated and almost invisible man whose life changes dramatically when he starts appearing in the dreams of strangers around the world every night. Overnight, or rather night after night, Paul Matthews becomes a celebrity of a special kind. His teenage daughters are no longer ashamed of him, his ex-wife reaches out to him, he becomes cool in the eyes of his students, and lucrative advertising contracts pile up on his desk. Finally, he is SOMEBODY. However, his life quickly turns from a dream come true into a nightmare, and Paul goes from being a fascinating phenomenon to a victim of cancel culture.
Interested in internet culture, virality, and the phenomenon of influencers, director Kristoffer Borgli (Sick of Myself) explores both the process of becoming a celebrity and the rapid loss of public affection. In exploring these themes, he couldn’t have chosen a better actor for the lead role. Cage, whose face appears on thousands of memes and funny gadgets, shows not only his outstanding comedic talent, but also his phenomenal dramatic skills. Ridiculed for his choice of roles, but also constantly staying at the top, the actor was given a chance to spread his wings here. Critics have called Dream Scenario, filmed in the spirit of Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich), and Charlie Kaufman (Anomalisa), irresistibly funny. Nicolas Cage himself has probably never been so funny or so moving.
